Rev. William Parker Jr., Pastor
The Reverend William Parker is the son of the late William T. Parker and Lula Mae Singleton. He is an Alabama native and the proud pastor of the New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan.
Pastor Parker was licensed and ordained to preach in 1998 while at the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio and has thirty years of experience teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Parker’s powerful and inspirational messages are a blessing to all who hear them. He lives according to the mandate of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to “make disciples and grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord and Savior”. With this in mind, he has a passion for teaching and believes “if you stop learning today, you stop teaching tomorrow.”
Pastor Parker is a certified teacher with the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. and prior Dean of the Congress of Christian Education for the Cincinnati Missionary Baptist District Association. His commitment to sharing the Gospel has enabled him to serve in ministries throughout the country in the capacity of Director of Outreach at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Director of Prison Ministry at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Assistant Christian Education Director, at True Believers Missionary Baptist Church Chicago, Illinois. He was also instrumental in moving forward a number of ministries at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Pontiac, Michigan.
In addition to his pastoral duties at New Springfield, Pastor Parker serves on the Executive Board and as a Certified Teacher with the Crystal Lake Missionary Baptist District Association. He is a member of the Wolverine State Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. He is the Civic and Social Action Director of the Oakland County Ministerial Fellowship, a member of the Sheriffs Relations Team (SRT), Vice President of the District 5 Advisory Committee, and a volunteer Chaplain at McLaren Medical Center, Pontiac, Michigan.
He is a visionary pastor and under his leadership, New Springfield became a non-profit organization continuing its commitment to assisting the community through its food outreach program, paid off its remaining mortgage and hosts the annual New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Community Picnic.
He is a decorated military veteran and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a Masters of Divinity Degree in Theological and Biblical Studies both from Destiny Christian University.
Pastor Parker is an avid reader, loves fishing, spending time with the youth of the church and considers himself the ultimate fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team. But above all else, he enjoys preaching and teaching God’s word. He is married to Jennifer and they have three children and two grandchildren.
